Peak Zone: Base

Starting at the Base - Getting to Know Yourself

Every journey starts with knowing your capabilities, having the right mindset and determining the tools and resources necessary to make the trip.  Having a powerful “WHY” is essential to venture out of your comfort zone and take the Bold steps that will enable you to overcome fears and obstacles.

Regardless of experience, position, or current status, we all have a Base starting point.  Whether you’re an aspiring leader, just been hired or promoted to a leadership position, an entrepreneur or a seasoned leader who wants to keep your skills sharp, the Base is the place to start with a thorough self assessment.

The amount of time spent at the Base depends on how well you know yourself.  Challenge yourself to find your discomfort zones, identify what’s causing the discomfort and think of ways to overcome them.  You probably  know what those uncomfortable zones are and possibly avoiding them because of fear, it’s too hard, uncertain or painful.

To achieve your “Peak” performance in each area, establishing a solid base by honestly assessing your shortcomings will increase your chances of completing the journey with fewer challenges.  As an example, how many times have you avoided making presentations because you were afraid to speak in public?  What other fears  do you need to confront in order to be more courageous?

Think of it this way:  If you chose to be just 20% bolder, how much closer would you be to your goals?

If you know the enemy and know yourself you need not fear the results of a hundred battles.
